The Scary Santorini Gondola

Ok, the story behind these videos:

Our cruise stop in Santorini Greece was great! I wanted to see this island in Greece so bad. It was what I imagined Greece to be with the white houses and blue roofs on the sides of the island. Gorgeous!!! The blue water and the nicest people there. Just a perfect little island. The boys (Aiden and Evan) begged to stay on the ship. So we took Paris on the tour. The ship was not docked, but tendered. Which even wearing a "sea-sick" patch I got so seasick getting on this tour and Paris too. The water was so rough. So we started out with a 20 minute boat ride in this little tender boat Royal carribean owned, that I swore would not make it to land full of people in these swells of ocean waves that were so rough and big. It was ridiculous. Well we made it! Yes, still sick and feeling gross, we kept going. On the bus we discovered the place was a small small small island and most roads were barely big enough for 1 car. So these buses would go 60-70 miles an hour see a car and slam on it's brakes or kinda of drive off the road around it. It was nuts! Sometimes you see a shear cliff on 1 side of a bus with no road guard! Anyway, we visited a town, got the tour of the island by bus, visited a winery, then was given "gondola cable" tickets and was told that this was the only way back down to the tender boat to get back to our cruise ship. It was 100% true. The only way. So this is what we had to do, to get down from the city, to the ocean's edge, to get to the tender boat, to take us to our ship......yes, it did not look safe and yes I am glad I did it! In 4 parts...here we go....as I chat with the other 2 gals in our gondola down the mountain. Part 4 you can see really what we went down......that is taken from the water.

I {{{HEART}}} YouTube

I am slowly learning YouTube and posting some of my videoing that I have taken since getting my new digital camcorder this past July....so here is Santorini Greece! That is Paris in the pink with her cousin Kenzie in the matching pink dress. We are with our cruise boat tour group......

****You may have to pause my music on my blog on the bottom of my blog page to hear the videos ****

Also, a clip of us in Barcelona, Spain. Which was our departure point for the cruise. This was the day after we arrived, and we were jet lag. I think the music in the back ground (playing on a boat in the harbor) was "Sweet Home Alabama" (ha ha). We walked that whole street up and down, Las Ramblas is what it is called. That statue is Christopher Columbus pointing to the West Indies, which turned out to be the USA! Yep, he was from Barcelona Spain, and we saw where he left from and returned back to.

Can you believe it is almost March? Wow!! Almost St Patty's Day and Easter? And my Disneyworld trip too! Plus this week I have a midterm to take. And then Spring break is coming up in a few weeks, along with my hubby's 37th birthday! Time is flying!! Pretty soon Summer will be here and I will be MIA for long periods of time and my poor dog will be in the Pet Hotel crying for me (I said that last part in a whisper, so Pixie can't hear). Well today was full of studying, laundry and I went to Razmataz and bought a sofa console to go with our new couches. I also chatted in the school parking lot for over an hour to another mom. Time just flew! I think we cover every subject Oprah has talked about this past year in 1 hour. Boy, we can sure talk! So back to studying and I gotta get the kids soon. I am kicking myself that my DVR screwed up and did not tape "Lost" last week. And I refuse to watch it on my small computer screen on Itunes. So I am waiting until Thursday to get 2 episodes back to back of "Lost". I am so irritated. I did see a DUMB movie this past weekend called "Blonde Ambition". So dumb I laughed and would watch it again on HBO, gotta love Jessica Simpson and Netflix! On the other hand "I am Legend" is beyond awesome, I give it 100 MILLION stars! LOVED it....... oh did I mention I can barely move today? My pilates instructor thought it would be fun to see if I could do "this or that", well I could (to her sha-grin), but guess what??? I am sore and can't really walk normal today. I feel like I have been weight lifting, then rock climbing, then riding a horse among other stuff. I am sore in places I did not realize I had muscles. Hummmmmmm? I did discover I am more flexible then I thought, but hey I don't think I'll be joining Cirque du Soleil any time soon, so I better be careful or I may get a back or neck injury very soon....golly golly!!! I may need to bring my camera next time. No one would believe the stuff she has me doing!

OK, I am off, not getting much done sitting here, OR AM I?? (dum dum dum dum - insert scary music) ~ Shawna xoxoxo

U2 Rocks...seriously

Even though this song is from 1981 (October album), it is probably one of their best songs ever written (and the rarest to see them perform live in concert).....3 Bible verse references are included in this song: Colossians 2:9-10, Psalm 30:2 and James 5:7-9. Bono was ahead of his time!

"Gloria"

I try to sing this song
I, I try to stand up
But I can't find my feet
I try, I try to speak up
But only in you I'm complete

Glori, in te domine
Gloria, exultate
Gloria, gloria
Oh lord, loosen my lips

I try to sing this song
I, I try to get in
But I can't find the door
The door is open
You're standing there
You let me in

Gloria, in te domine
Gloria, exultate
Oh lord, if I have anything, anything at all
I give it to you
I give it to you

Gloria, in te domine
Gloria, gloria
Gloria, in te domine
Gloria, gloria

(Latin translation: glory in you God, exulted glory)

The Accidental Tourist

Ok, my post. After digging up old photos for my last post I noticed some photos were familiar looking. So I paired up a few and thought I should post this. So now is my story. The 1995 trip to London with my school's fine arts department was wonderful. You had to be asked to be on this trip. Every night it was full of theater and during the day was full of touring and lots of history!!! My kind of vacation!! I fell in love with London. I knew I'd be back. I was just was sad it was 10 years later. But funny it was exactly 10 years later. Not quite to the day, but about 6 weeks off.

So now it has become a new tradition (I already told Robb in 2005), no matter what, every 10 years we have to visit London in the Summer. Seriously, I am keeping this going until I can no longer board a plane. I love London. It is my favorite city in the world! I could just live and die there, no joke. I mean I will go between the 10 years if the chance arises for sure, but the "every 10 years" will happen even if I am rowing a boat across the Atlantic by myself singing Beatles songs all the way! So, here are photos that were taken in the same spot (almost) just 10 years apart. 1995 with my school and then 2005 with my hubby!

PS~ If you have not been to London, please go or else in 2015 you will be on my row boat with me! Hope you like "Here Comes The Sun".

A Walk Down Memory Lane

Circa: 1992-1996
I showed everyone some photos of my first 5 years of life last month, the week of my birthday. Here are some photos of me in highschool. I thought of getting these pictures out and on my blog after discussing music with Teresa the other day. I'm going to put a song I remember listening to when this photo was taken in parantheses next to the photo. These are just some random ones I could easily get to in my albums. They scanned poorly, as they are not digital. These need to be scrapbooked ASAP!!! So this is me......have I changed much? These were all taken 16-12 years ago....time flies and boy what I have done in the past 16-12 years since, wow! I would not have ever believed I could have accomplished what I have with my kids and family if someone would have told me ahead of time what my future would be like.

Family Trip to Puerto Rico (Fields of Gold, Sting)

Roosevelt Lake (Fins, Jimmy Buffett)

The Father-Daughter Dance, I took my grandfather (The Electric Slide, ha ha ha)

17th Birthday (Wildflowers, Tom Petty)

Meteor Crater (Magic Carpet Ride, Steppenwolf)

Oxford, England...Stephanie & I (Zooropa, U2)

Windsor Castle in England, School Fine Arts Trip (Never Met a Girl Like You, Edwyn Collins)

Spring Break Trip to CA: Met the guy from the Ihop Commercials. (Lips are Sealed: Go Gos)

Spring Break trip to CA.... (the entire Valley Girl sound track)

School Ski Trip to Telluride (Me and Bobby McGee, Janis Joplin)

Phx Honor's Cotillion w/my dad (Because You Loved Me, Celine Dion)

Senior Prom, Hawaiian Theme *I still have this dress, it's Vintage* (No One Needs to Know, Shania Twain)

Highschool Graduation (How Soon is Now, The Smiths)

Senior Year, Krissy & I (Cheeseburger in Paradise, Jimmy Buffett)

**I need to make one statement, I went to an all girls Catholic Highschool, that is why you see a lack of any boys in the photos (except for the Bishop) :) FYI in case you are wondering**

Ok, was that long enough...........sick of me now???? OH, FYI....if you want to hear of some good music get the new Radiohead cd "In Rainbows", I have 1 song on my blog's player playing. It takes a couple of listens to get use to their new style, but boy, wow! Great music...I LOVIES this new sound......a must have cd (or download from Itunes).

Pony Day, Hurray!!

Yee Haw!!! An annual event at my kids' school every year is Pony Day, which happen to fall on Paris' B-day this year (which was a double treat for her). This is just for the Kindergarteners and Preschoolers. They get a pony ride and a picture. The pictures just came in last week...& yep, I had to buy them! The class photo was free, but the individual ones were cute I thought (I think they see me coming and mark it up double to be honest, ha ha).

Next year Aiden will be in 1st grade, so no Pony Day, but Paris will still get it for another year. It is too cute. This pony just looked like a big stuffed animal. The company "Whatever Little Pony" caters to parties and events with pony rides and such. The owners are very nice! We do have some cowboy lineage in our blood!!!

PS~ Still sick with a head cold...not fun. I guess I was laughing and talking in my sleep last night after taking some Nyquil.

**Update** One of the things Robb heard me say in my sleep was "Now that's what I am talking about" then I proceeded to giggle....I don't recall this dream. Must have been good!

Tyler's 10th Birthday

Yesterday was Tyler's 10th Birthday party at Challenger Space Center and it was fun. Now Paris and Kenzie (and Grandma) were bored bored bored, but the other kids had fun. Lots of science stuff and we went on a mission to Mars! It was a solid 3 hours!! Here are some photos of us.

Then I came home and within 1 hour I was feeling sick...then by bedtime I was feeling like absolute yuck. Woke up today and I am 50x worse. Yep, I am sick. It's not fun. Kids are home tomorrow, so that is kinda good. I don't have to drive them to school and get up at 6am. But I do get to listen to them fight and complain how bored they are all day...........but I keep saying "life is good"
